Spanish and Salsa in Hawaii Kai

Salsa is finally making its way down to the east side of Oahu! Starstruck Studios, located on 805 Ahukini Street is offering an introductory Latin Ballroom class every Tuesday, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Certified ballroom dance instructor, Alicia Aros, holds classes for all levels of dancers in a wide variety of dances: salsa, mambo, merengue, rumba, tango, etc.

Finally, I feel some Latin culture emerging in my town. First, a woman named Erica Brown started the Hawaii Kai Spanish Conversation Club, which is a useful, laid back and fun way to meet hispanohablantes. Although she spoke little Spanish, she brought latinos and europeans together - mixing locals with native speakers creating the perfect environment for a Spanish language learner.  They meet every Tuesday, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Contact Janessa Dubois at jdangel_7@yahoo.com to be added to the mailing list.
