Torneos de golf

La semana pasada he tenido la oportunidad de asistir los torneos de golf, en que mi hermano representó Guam y competió con los mejores golfistas (de edades 8-10) del mundo. Es un honor para ver mi hermano, en seriedad completa, jugar el deporte con todo de su corazón. Él tiene 10 años y para mí, es raro que un niño quiere andar 18 hoyos (por 3 días) y jugar un deporte en puro silencio. Es algo tan extraño para mí porque normalmente me gustan deportes rápidos con contacto físico.

Sin embargo, he llegado agradecer y entender este deporte. También, gocé el medio ambiente en Escondido, CA. 

En cuanto al resultado de mi hermano, ¡hizo bien! Él conoció muchos niños de países latinoamericanos y  ellos le enseñaron algunas frases basicas en español como: ¿Cómo te llamas?, ¿Cómo estás?, etc.

A whirlwind of what's happened in the past two weeks...

So I indulged in some island food right before I left Guam. My mom made some lobsters and steamed some Palauan crab (excuse my spelling) called Ugaib or Ukaib. It was truly amazing. To top it all off, a family friend made us tamales!

Upon arriving in Los Angeles, my brother insisted we visit Universal Studios. I highly recommend el Mercado Chocolaté, which is just outside the theme park. They sell candy from Mexico and all kinds of la Virgen de Guadalupe memorabilia.

Finally, we made it to San Diego for the opening ceremony of the 2010 Callaway Junior World Golf Championship. It was fun to watch little kids from all over the world network with each other. I felt proud of my brother after he spoke a bit of Spanish and Portuguese with his golf mates. The little tyrant is growing up!
