grace or stain

It amazes me what you could find in the streets of Moiliili. This town has such a colorful history and culture. I found out about this through a forum in the social media website Moiliili Matters. It's on the side of Kokua Market. Apparently it has generated a buzz around town not only because of Michael Jackson's death last week, but because some members of the community question the decision of the artist to use a controversial public figure to grace (or in their opinion, stain) the streets of their neighborhoods. Is it appropriate? I believe it is; in all essence it does give a timely (and at the same time, a timeless) quality to Moiliili. In fact, it may pose a message about the busy town of Moiliili itself. This particular town has had it's ups and downs, but we still look for the best in it with events such as Discover Moiliili and community clean ups. Why not look for the best in this man's legacy? We all deserve a second chance.
